Insights From the Founder of Travel Startup SeaTour

SeaTour founder.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Tyshaun Pickett, founder of travel startup SeaTour, that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“Just get started and try to do a little something every day that pushes you toward your entrepreneurial goal. I created a thought board that helps me organize my tasks and thoughts to keep me on track. These small tasks force you to do other tasks, and from there, it becomes a powerful snowball effect and gets you closer to your goals.”

What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?

“We need more collaboration in this space because this will allow us to truly change the tourism industry for the better. There are so many aspects of travel and vacationing that can be improved to create more memorable experiences for tourists, but it starts with us as the thinkers on how we can make this happen.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“Understand where the whole is headed and build something that can provide value in the future state but also delivers some level of value in the now.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Don’t be too hard on yourself. As entrepreneurs, we can be our own worst critics, and sometimes you must take a step back to realize you are doing something that most people wouldn't dare to do. A big thing that has worked for me is realizing how important failure is in the process of being successful. The failure makes the win that much [more] impactful because you are able to learn from your own mistakes, and now you are able to share this valuable insight to help the world.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“Always appreciate the small steps and the small wins. Small steps and wins add up to big steps and big wins, and you only need one win to change your life and those around you.”
